Sowing Physical Seeds

With food prices increasing due to poor economies, the pandemic, and past seasons of drought, along with the impact that COVID-19 has had as a whole, people are experiencing extreme food insecurity, resulting in Care Workers being forced to make the choice between feeding their own families and serving at the Care Point.

In response to the growing food insecurity, Hands at Work has begun to support Community Based Organisations across Africa in planting communal gardens. These gardens will be used by the Care Workers and Primary Caregivers to provide for their families. The more people we can encourage to produce their own food, the more secure the food sources for their future will become. The dream for these gardens is that they will yield enough crop to both feed individual households, with some left to sell for a small profit at the local market. In some places where, due to lack of accessibility and cost, fresh produce is not available, these vegetables will be harvested to provide our children with their daily meal.

Pray for these gardens, that they will be fruitful and provide for the most vulnerable families in this season of immense hunger and desperation. Pray for the gardens to be a symbol of hope and new life, not only to the Care Workers and Primary Caregivers but also to the wider community.
