Day 19 - Education

Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

For much of 2020, schools across Africa and around the world were closed due to the pandemic. This is a massive challenge in the Africa context, and many of our children will never be able to finish their education as a result. Please pray for Godly people in government positions to protect our children with relevant measures.

Day 17 - Food Insecurity

For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore, I command you, saying, ‘you shall freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land. – Deuteronomy 15:11

Food security remains a serious issue in the most vulnerable communities across Africa, an issue that Hands at Work has seen sharply worsen due to the pandemic. An increase in food prices, combined with past seasons of drought, has resulted in many families struggling to survive. As Hands at Work ensures that the most vulnerable children and those who care for them have secure access to food, pray that God will provide all the resources needed.

Hands at Work has seen sharply worsen due to the pandemic. An increase in food prices, combined with past seasons of drought, has resulted in many families struggling to survive. Our goal is to ensure that the most vulnerable children and those who care for them have secure access to food through the children’s daily meals at the Care Point, Primary Caregiver gardens and food relief in times of crisis.

Day 16 - Teams

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. – Proverbs 31:8-9

Throughout the history of Hands at Work, many of our partners have sent teams to Africa on a yearly basis. In 2020 however, many of those partners were unable to send teams due to the pandemic. Pray for each team member, that they will experience peace in the uncertainty. Pray that they will trust in God’s timing and His plan for 2021. Pray for the partnerships unable to send teams; that they will still feel connected and part of the work that is happening in Africa.

Day 15 - Hands at Work Volunteers

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. - Acts 13: 2-3

Hands at Work has volunteers from across the world serving on the ground in Africa as well as in International Offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK and the US. Pray for each volunteer who you know by name. Pray that they will continue to grow in their spiritual maturity as they serve.

Today, as you pray for Hands at Work volunteers, we invite you to send an encouraging message to those who you know by name.

Day 14 - International Church and Partners

Then he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.’ - Luke 9:48

Hands at Work believes that, together with the local church, the International Church has a responsibility to be a part of caring for the most vulnerable in Africa. Pray for our church partners as they also face many challenges. Praise God for each of our partners who, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and not being able to physically come to Africa, have found unique ways to continue building upon their partnerships and staying connected to what God is doing in Africa.
