Prayer for those serving in Zambia

A note from Zambia:

Hi,

To all who have recieved him and are called children of the most High God, what a priveledge we have.
We are asking you to stand with us in prayers as we go and do training in Kalende community with the care workers starting tomorrow. 

May the good Lord be with you all, as we are together and learn from one another in going deeper with Christ and our nieghbours.

Also, a prayer request just came in for 2 people in our Luanshya, Zambia Service Centre team, Paul (our accountant) and Wilbroad (who works with our community schools). They both have malaria now. Please pray for strength and healing for them – and a quick recovery.

Prayer for South Africa

Good morning/afternoon/evening to you,

I just wanted to thank you once again for all the prayers you sent up for Kelvin Zulu. I’m happy to tell you that he was discharged on Friday only one week from his near death admission in to the hospital. This is a complete miracle and the nurses and doctors in the hospital were proclaiming this too. Praise to our God!

Unfortunately this week we got news that our bookkeeper in the Democratic Republic of Congo has kidney stones. She is going through much pain now. Please pray for her and also pray for the doctors and hospitals that we are entrusting for her care—for their compassion towards her and for excellence in her treatment.

As Oumie Snyman is away enjoying her extended family around South Africa, I am sending out the prayer requests.

This week we are praying for South Africa. Tomorrow South Africans are heading to the polls to vote in their local government elections. As we pray for them here are some scriptures we can reflect on: 

Rom 13:1-7 “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

-       Ask God in His wisdom to reveal and appoint the leaders He approves of and who will best serve God’s purposes for South Africa.

Deu 1:15 “So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes.”

-       Pray that leaders of wisdom and understanding will be raised up to lead South Africa as a nation in righteousness and justice.

Please also pray for:

-       the local leadership in Wvelverdiend, in the Bushbuckridge area of South Africa. That there will be understanding and oneness in vision to care for the most vulnerable in this poor community.

-       For more field staff in our 2 local offices in Bushbuckridge and Clau Clau, to guide and support the work in our communities.

-       For a poor rural community, Oshoek, bordering Swaziland that we’ve begun a relationship with, that Hands at Work will be granted the resources and time to go and support Oshoek and help them to build a team to care even more for the poor and vulnerable in their community.

-       Lastly, for a grandmother and her 4 year-old granddaughter she cares for in Cork, Bushbuckridge area. Last night their house was burned down and they lost everything in it. Their names are Grandmother Bethaniya and granddaughter Buhle. Four-year-old Buhle attends our care point in Cork. They are doing ok because they were not hurt and their concrete house is still standing and protecting them, but they lost everything they own in the fire. Please pray that God will bring forth generous hearts to help them in this time of need.

Prayer for Kelvin Zulu

Dear friends,

We have just received news that Kelvin Zulu, our bookkeeper at the Hands at Work HUB offices, has cerebral malaria, the most serious form of malaria which acts very quickly and can cause permanent damage. He was ill for several days but was misdiagnosed. He is in the intensive care unit at the nearest hospital, Themba. We praise God that he has been diagnosed and is stable at this time.

As the friends of the paraplegic man, tore off the roof of the home Jesus was sharing in to present their friend at Jesus’ feet (Mark 2), let us with the same commitment, enter in to prayer for our friend, presenting him at the feet of Jesus, our Healer.

Please pray now, especially in these next critical hours.

Thank all of you for surrounding Kelvin in prayer! We saw him this morning. He remains in ICU and his condition is serious, but he has improved and we were able to have a conversation with him. He had a restful night, thank God! and he even cracked a couple of jokes. He's on the best medication they have through IV. Please keep praying for FULL healing with no permanent damage. Thank you friends!

Hi friends! Thank you for your continued prayers for Kelvin! He is doing very well in comparison to the critical condition he was in just a few days ago. Although he is still weak and in ICU until his potassium level goes down (it's high due to his kidneys not working for so long). He is still only able to be fed through an IV, which he says makes him feel like a machine. In general, in his mind he is ready to go home and head back to work, but he's starting to realise now that it will be a long road to recovery because of how serious his condition was and how much time it will take for his body to heal.

Please pray for an encouraged spirit for Kelvin today and even a peace and understanding that God does and will use all situations to further His kingdom. This too can be a part of His big, grand plan for our lives, if we let it be.

If you have any notes or encouraging words for Kelvin, please send them my way and I will make sure that he gets them. Today I brought him all the messages that all of you have been sending me over email and Facebook. He said that it made him feel not so alone, thank you!

Please pray for: 

ZAMBIA

Hands at Work care workers as they go for training in Luanshya done by Petra Children's Ministries. Pray for their safety, that they will be in good health and be encouraged by all they learn.

The communities need partners. Pray God will link outside partners with them to reach more children. May they see the need and be encouraged to be involved.

Request from James Tembo:

That God gives us the grace to knit our hearts together so that His love may overflow through us.

Pray that Samuel Zulu will have wisdom in all the decisions he has to make regarding the farm. That all tasks will be completed on time and will be successful.

ZIMBABWE

Pray for the care workers and church leaders in Sakuba to be encouraged and to come together in unity. That they will have wisdom as they plan what is needed to be done and that there is no confusion in the work environment.

Pray for the Honda Valley volunteers, for their safety and health. This is a new, difficult area with many challenges and is deep rural. Pray that they will be encouraged to persevere. We trust for many children to be reached so that they can be cared for.

We thank God for fruit born there and the opportunity of going deeper this year.

TODD AND KATIE (INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEERS) 

They will be in the DRC for a few months. Please pray for their well-being. We trust that the Holy Spirit will lead them on the right path and that they will be encouraged to persevere in a difficult area.

SOUTH AFRICA

Please pray for Samuel Mosoma in the Clau Clau service centre for his health to improve so that he has strength to do all that is required of him and for guidance and wisdom in work related situations.

We are thankful to report back on a program started in Belfast with regards to after school activities. All went well and will bring much joy to the children.

Today we need prayer for:

Nello Regusa (Hopes and Dreams) Australia - He has had a total hip replacement. Pray for complete healing and strength for mobility.

ZAMBIA 

For the bookkeepers, Mary and Luckson, as they learn new ways to keep their books and do the finances for their service centers.

DRC

Mentoring  George (field  coordinator) and Ruth (administrator) to be able to be effective in the service center. Several communities where there is huge potential for growth  this year.Pray that the churches will take on the Biblical mandate to care for the orphans and widows and that the care workers will have the heart for it.

NIGERIA

Pray for a bank account to be opened in Lagos. This is urgently needed. Pray  for favour with the Nigerian International Affairs Office in regard to Hands Family and partners having an open door to come to Nigeria.

Pray for long term intensive training for volunteers. Pray that the right leaders will be identified, pray for volunteers that will have compassion for the orphans and wisdom to identify those in need. As to date we have no funds available and trust for financial aid required for the training.
