He had to convince the family not to take Promise to a traditional healer. He had to get him past all the roadblocks, and convince the doctors that they should take the boy in. And then to trust God for healing.

I pull my mind back to my conversation with Erick in the Democratic Republic of Congo this morning. A few months ago, completely unexpectedly, a few powerful men came and they took our property that we were renting.

“They split away - split the church in half, because they felt they shouldn't share their resources with other people who are not in their congregation. And orphans are dirty.”

Injustice is not respecting the image of God! Not respecting people that were created by our Father! To love, not just those who are close to you and like you, but those who are far and different from you, because you see the beauty of your Father in them.

They're waiting in that line all by themselves. Not talking to anybody. Not in contact with the friends around them. I looked beyond the mask and I saw their eyes. It shook me. Eyes of loneliness.

We know that feeling when a child really prays in faith. It stops us in our tracks and we are awe-struck by the faith that these children display in tough times.

She faced the fear of people accusing her of bringing a sickness into the community when she feeds the children. She faced huge challenges just to get transport to get to the communities.

I want to encourage you. Speak about them. Pray for them. If you can encourage them. Let us make sure we applaud the African workers. You are part of them. You are part of this dream.

They inspected how we had hand washing and we kept social distancing, and we gave these children food. And they just commended us. They said, "This is what compassion is about."

Communities that said that there is no way we can feed children in this crisis are now feeding children! Authorities that said to us, “Everything must stop!” Now invite us and say, “Please care for the children.”

Maybe there's something incredibly unique and beautiful about what's happening in this dark hour. Especially as we consider the season where we just celebrated the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

People in Africa are earning money and buying food for that day. As one lady said in Lagos, “If we have a lockdown for a month, the virus won’t kill us.Hunger will kill us.”

In this time, I ask all of you to pray with us, from Philippians 4 for all our wonderful people working for the children and grandmothers whom we love so much, to be anxious about nothing but in everything, through prayer and petition and thanksgiving, to make the prayer requests known to God.

One of our favourite sayings is, "Can you see what I see?" And what we mean by that is, can you see the detail of the brokenness and those who desperately need hope within a seemingly happy picture?

We heard that extended family came to the grandmother one day and they demanded that Jane should be given for early marriage. And Jane had no choice. The grandmother had no choice.
