40 Days of Prayer - Day 38

When the hour came, Jesus took His place at the table with the apostles. He said to them, "I have wanted so much to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer! For I tell you, I will never eat it until it is given its full meaning in the Kingdom of God." …He gave them the cup after the supper, saying, "This cup is God's new covenant sealed with my blood, which is poured out for you” – Luke 22: 14-16, 20 (NIV)

Jesus chose to spend His last hours with a group of people who society would not have called special. He chose to visit with them, giving the unconditional love that only God could offer. As Care Workers visit the homes of the most vulnerable people, may they carry the same spirit of love in their hearts, bringing only themselves to those who may think they are forgotten. Pray that Jesus’ desperate desire to be with His friends will echo in the hearts of each Care Worker. Pray our children will feel as though they are being visited by family who share a covenant of hope with them.
