Prayer Requests - May 2014

Greetings in Jesus’ name,

If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday - Isaiah 58:10 (NIV)

Please pray for:

MOZAMBIQUE

After many years, Hands at Work in Africa has had our legal registration approved in Mozambique. All glory to God!

Pray for the many children in Mozambique who are suffering. As we hear stories of sick and dying children, please pray for guidance for Hands at Work as we expand our work in Mozambique to care for more children.

MALAWI

We thank God for His blessing and provision as on April 1, 2014, we were able to start providing one nutritious meal per day, free access to education, and basic health care for the most vulnerable children in Chinkhu.

Pray for our local leaders in Malawi as they explore new communities to expand into. Ask God to reveal those communities with the most need.

Praise God for the story of Thandi, a 12-year-old girl. She was left to care for her 18-month-old brother, Tamandani, after her mother died and their father abandoned them. Lainess, a widowed Care Worker, came to their aid and took Thandi and Tamandani into her own home. Today they are no longer alone, but loved and cared for.

ZIMBABWE

As our local leaders expand our work in the Honde Valley, pray for Hands at Work to have wisdom and guidance in identifying future leaders in the communities of Katambarare and Chinake.

In Zimbabwe, two of the major challenges are access to education and health care. Pray for the many children who cannot afford school fees, and the children who are sick and cannot access medical treatment. These children are desperate to receive an education, health care, and feel loved and cared for. Ask God to make a way for Hands at Work to reach more children in Zimbabwe.

NIGERIA

Pray for young volunteers to be identified in the community of Badia who are willing to serve the most vulnerable. Pray for more churches and community leaders to deeply understand the heart of Jesus, and their calling to serve.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO

Pray for the unstable area of Goma where our Care Workers and children are living under a constant threat of rebel activity. Pray for safety and stability in these very challenging situations. As our local leaders and Care Workers begin to provide one meal a day for the most vulnerable children in Goma, ask God to ensure these services will continue and not be interrupted.

God’s blessing,

Oumie
