In Chinaka Community, #Zimbabwe, #CareWorkers are caring for and supporting 125 of the most vulnerable children. At the present time, Hands at Work is working with the community to build a new Care Point – a #LifeCentre for the children. The Care Workers and the local pastors have taken a lead in this construction by making bricks, clearing roads and helping to dig pits for toilets. There has been a well built for water and a fence put around the Care Point. The construction of the main building and toilets will be happening in the near future. The vision of Hands at Work is to mobilise the local church within the communities that are being served, to care for the orphaned and vulnerable children around them. When Hands at Work starts serving in a new community, children gather daily at a Care Point to receive #food, support with education and support with basic health care. However, the work that is being done, does not finish with Care Points. The dream of Hands at Work is to transform these Care Points into #LifeCentres in each of the communities across Africa. It is common that many of the #PrimaryCaregivers have faced similar struggles to their children, subsequently making it a challenge for them to be supportive and loving to the children that are under their care. A #LifeCentre is a place where Primary Caregivers can find freedom and healing. Earlier in the year, a borehole was dug at the Oshoek #LifeCentre. This borehole allows the #CareWorkers to collect fresh and clean water for the children that they serve, which in turn helps to prevent the spread of illness and disease. It is such a blessing! ⠀ ⠀ #Joy

The individuals in the local office in Chimoio, #Mozambique, are Florence, Audrey and Sandra. Please pray for them as they support the communities in Mozambique. Although the communities seem to be heading towards a good harvest, it is during this time right before harvest that is the longest period families go without food. It is a crucial time. #Pray for the families that face uncertainty as to whether or not they will receive a plentiful harvest. ⠀ ⠀ As they expand their local office, pray that with the Regional Support Team (RST), they will be able to find the right people with a heart to serve the most vulnerable to step forward and answer the biblical mandate to care for the poorest of the poor. ⠀ ⠀ As the local office is in the beginning stages of walking in a new community, pray that God will open doors into the right community and show them the right people to connect with. Tyler Ralph ( #InternationalVolunteer, #Canada) reflects on local pastors’ involvement in #Zimbabwe: ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ “Farai and the local office team in Mutare are busy trying to engage pastors from the local community of Sakubva. Many of these pastors have been around for years, but there was a need to challenge them in the way that they support both Sakubva and Chinyausunzi Community Based Organisations (CBO). Farai and the team brought the pastors from Mutare up to Honde Valley to visit Chinaka Community. They chose Chinaka because the pastors there are very dedicated to the work, constantly supporting the Care Workers in their spiritual growth. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The Sakubva pastors were able to hear about God’s heart for the vulnerable children as well as hear from the Chinaka pastors about their involvement in the CBO. The Sakubva pastors shared that they felt convicted because they were not doing their best to support the children. They committed to being more intentional in the work that is happening in Sakubva and Chinyausunzi.” ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ #LocalChurch ⠀⠀
