Work in Africa
Each year, groups of volunteers from the UK visit projects in Africa on short-term missions (up to 3 months). UK volunteers can also join the Hands at Work in Africa long-term volunteer programme (6 months or longer). As well as providing an opportunity to experience projects first hand, it also enables an exchange of skills and expertise between UK and African personnel.
Our long-term volunteer programme includes a 10-week orientation programme at our South Africa headquarters. Thereafter, volunteers spend the rest of their time in South Africa or one of the other 7 countries in which we currently operate.

Church partnerships:
“We may never meet the people we help in Masoyi but we feel that we have a real relationship with them and we can see exactly how we are impacting their lives, it’s very empowering for us as a church."
Revd Barry Wilson, Holy Trinity Church, Chesterton.
These words are echoed by many church leaders from a variety of denominations. Church Partnerships with Hands at Work Africa projects are about much more than just fundraising. They are about joint learning, participation, prayer and development. They are what we need today.
