Starfish Great Hearts Foundation U.K.

Cork, a community largely made up of Mozambiquan refugees, suffers from extreme poverty , few services and a growing orphan generation. A Hands at Work project began there in 2006, and a community centre, offering child-care, feeding, and after-school programs was planned.

Today the centre is a reality. And it couldn’t have happened without the supportive action of corporate partners from the UK. Through the Starfish Greathearts Foundation, a group of UK sister companies —Best Companies Limited and Peg Limited—agreed to not only fundraise the entire project through a variety of activities, but to also send a twenty-person team to Cork for a week and assist with the centre’s construction.
