Across the world, there are individuals and families who have been to Africa and seen God’s heart for justice and the most vulnerable. When Hands at Work starts working in a new community, the care that the children receive is not limited to a daily meal. It is essential that the children are being physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally cared for. ⠀ ⠀ As Hands at Work grows, we are continually growing in our ability and capacity to care for the children well.

⠀ Julio* is a 10-year-old boy in grade 4 at school. He lives with his mother and 3 siblings who also attend the Matsinho Community Based Organisation (CBO). For Julio, being part of the Matsinho CBO means that he can receive physical support – like a daily meal – and also the chance to play with other children. Julio has found a new confidence in going to school since being given a uniform and shoes, and his school fees paid for.⠀ ⠀ Matsinho Community, #Mozambique

"Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was led like a lamb to the slaughter. "Back in February, a Maranatha Workshop took place for the Primary Caregivers and the children in the community of Chibote, #Zambia. Since the workshop, the local office team in Kitwe have led weekly follow-up sessions to build on all that was taught. Joining a follow-up session, I was so encouraged to see the way the children responded to the questions asked by Ruth and Eunice (Kitwe local office team). For the youngest children, they were asked to think about and draw a picture of what Jesus had done for them. It was sweet and yet so powerful! They acknowledged in a simple and yet profound way that Jesus had made such a difference in their lives!" Catherine Clarkson, International Volunteer (#UK) shares on the follow-up that took place with the children after the Maranatha Workshop in Chibote, #Zambia. ServingTheMostVulnerable
