Hands at Work has many projects that are growing and stretching everyday, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved by financially giving. One is by just donating to Hands General through Pay Pal. Transactions are processed through the secure PayPal account of Hands at Work in Africa (UK).

Holistic Community Care in Mozambique

Hands at Work in Gondola, Mozambique envisions a holistic community care site offering feeding, medication distribution, counseling, pre-school activities, and ARV support groups, next door to an agricultural site of poultry farming and vegetable gardens workers teaching project workers farm skills and enhancing the sustainability and food security of the project.

Teaching and Training in the DRC

With more than 3 million children in the DRC unable to access education, there is an incredible need for basic primary school teaching and practical life skills training. In Likasi, DRC Hands at Work is operating a single community school with local teachers and is poised to open a second in September, 2007.

By learning to build wooden benches and other products at the life skills site, local orphan boys learn an income-generating skill as they earn enough money to pay for annual school fees. Girls are taught knitting skills to pay for their school fees.

Empowering Desert Women in Nigeria

In the predominantly Muslim northern state of Kano, women are often uneducated and extremely vulnerable. Hands at Work targets the most vulnerable women in rural areas with a pro-literacy teaching site being developed into a holistic empowerment village, including education, agricultural teaching, food sustainability, and accommodation.

Near the literacy village, a small group of desperate mothers trapped in commercial sex work and urgently seeking a way out, are receiving life-skills training and support as a test group creating a new model of female empowerment.
