Come participate in God’s transforming work in Africa.
Send a team of passionate congregation members or a church leader for a two or three-week trip. Or come as an individual with an open heart and willingness to serve in whatever way is needed in one of these categories: Short-term (less than three months), to serve, learn and experience the work being done to transform communities; or Medium-term (longer than 6 months), to serve and build capacity in leaders and organisations across Africa. Volunteers serving with Hands at Work are able to encourage and support our local communities by their very presence.
The skills and abilities that you bring with you can be used to empower and equip people. The metaphor we use to describe our volunteers working with community organisations across Africa is “scaffolding": temporary, yet essential aides in building up the community and leaving it stronger than upon arrival. Volunteers come for varying lengths of time and serve local workers in a variety of areas, always maintaining the goal of building the Centre’s capacity to effectively care for the poor and vulnerable and supporting local ownership and sustainability.
We believe God calls people to His work, and so we say, regardless of your skills, if God is stirring a passion in your heart to reach out among the poor in Africa, then come! For more information contact your country office, email volunteer@handsatwork.org or find out more here:
