Become a Hands at Work Volunteer
Volunteers from countries around the world and from varied backgrounds and ages comprise the Hands at Work team, which mobilises, equips and supports the local church across Africa to transform the lives of Africa’s most vulnerable children. We invite you to consider investing a year of your life on behalf of Africa’s most vulnerable by being part of this team impacting people in over 60 communities in 8 countries. Come with an open heart and be willing to learn and to serve in whatever way is needed. Hands at Work volunteers serve the long-term local workers as “scaffolding”: a temporary, but essential tool in building a structure and leaving it stronger than upon arrival.
Serve & Learn
Each year in May Hands at Work offers a two-month opportunity for passionate individuals from around the world to learn and serve in villages across several African countries, and to gain a first-hand broad overview of the Hands at Work care model.
You will become a first-hand witness, walking in villages, staying in homes headed by orphaned children, and getting deep into the lives of those most affected by the orphan crisis. All the while serving Hands at Work's local Care Workers in simple, but practical ways.
Short Term Service Team
There are two types of short-term service teams: First, passionate people are invited to form their own team: we encourage church’s or just groups of passionate co-workers, friends and family, interested in forming a relationship with Hands at Work to come together and form a short-term team. Or the second option is to join a team of individuals from around the world organised and facilitated by Hands at Work, for two weeks of serving and seeking the heart of God in poor and vulnerable villages in Africa.
